Chuck Gardner - Piano & Digital Keyboards

A pianist, composer and arranger, Chuck Gardner has performed and recorded with Bob and Dolores Hope, Rosemary Clooney, Vic Damone, Clark Terry, Mel Torme, Louie Bellson and Nancy Wilson to name a few. While serving in the United States Air Force, Chuck led many musical groups including the United States Air Force Academy Band's jazz ensemble, "The Falconaires." He serves as a Clinician for music educator events at high schools, colleges and universities throughout the United States and performed at the Music Educators National Conference (MENC) with vibraphone artist Gary Burton. Chuck is originally from Waterloo, Iowa. He graduated from East Waterloo High School and attended the University of Northern Iowa before his U.S. Air Force Band career.

As a former member of the NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command) Band, Chuck performed in Carnegie Hall and on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. During his three-year residency in Hawaii, he had the envious opportunity to study music arranging with Henry Mancini. His 60 piece Symphonic Band arrangement of "Waltzing Matilda" was highlighted on ATN (Australian Television Network) during a month long tour "down under". Chuck also has performed as jazz pianist with the late Tulsa Philharmonic Orchestra.

Recently, Chuck has been working as a musical director and arranger for several concerts produced by the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame. Vocalist backup is his specialty. Sandy Gardner - Vocalist & Bass Guitar

A native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Sandy Gardner began her musical career in church and school choirs. She has performed at the former Tulsa Little Theater in a production of The Sound Of Music (as Liesel). While at Oklahoma State University, Sandy performed with the Student Entertainers, and was one of seven students selected to tour with the U.S.O. Her vocal talents were displayed as a finalist in both the Tulsa and Grand Lake preliminary pageants for Miss America.

Sandy is a vocalist for whom lyrics are important. She has performed with notable musicians across the country as a vocalist and bass guitarist, to include the great jazz guitarist, Cal Collins and jazz pianist Shirley Jester. She was featured on Cincinnati Public Television as bass guitarist in a tribute to jazz pianist Shirley Jester. She has been a featured vocalist in Tulsa at Mayfest, the Greenwood Jazz Festival, Tulsa Jazz Society concerts, and in solo and ensemble shows produced by the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame. She was honored to be a featured vocalist at the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame induction ceremonies for such artists as Marilyn Maye, Dr. Billy Taylor, Frank Wess, and Pat Kelly, to name a few.

As a writer member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), Sandy has earned the respect of her fellow musicians as both a fine vocalist and bassist. She and Chuck have performed together in Colorado Springs, San Antonio, Las Vegas, Kansas City's famous "Blue Room", Philadelphia area, Cincinnati and Tulsa.

This original one-woman musical will transport you back to the glory days of trains and the Tulsa Union Depot. In this production it is 1945 at the Tulsa Union Depot railroad train station. Kay Dennis has met some wonderful characters as she waits for the train that will bring her husband Charlie home from the war. Each character has a story - and each story is told through marvelous selections from the Great American Songbook. Back by popular demand; don't miss this funny, tender, fun-filled look back at Tulsa and America's greatest generation. The second half of the concert will feature Sandy and the Trio offering great jazz standards and perhaps a few new surprises.
